Luxembourg: Annual leave - Public holidays
On March 27, 2019, the bill on the increase of public holidays and annual leave was unanimously adopted, with retroactive effect from January 1st, 2019. May 9 (Europe Day), will become a public holiday from 2019 (bringing the total number of public holidays to 11 days).
The number of days of annual leave will also increase, from 2019 onwards, to at least 26 days of leave (in case of full-time employment).
For employees subject to a collective agreement that already provides for additional days of leave, the entitlement to the additional day of leave depends on the specific wording of the collective agreement:
Number of days of current leave |
Number of days of future leave |
|
Construction | 27 | 27 |
Electricians | 26 | 26 |
Garages | 26 | 27 |
Sanitary installation | 26 | 26 |
Cleaning | 25 | 26 |
Roofer | 26 | 26 |
Transport | 25 | 26 |
As an employer, do not forget to adapt the respective wording in your employment contracts or other agreements for the future.
